The Executor's Role

Grant of Probate, handled for you

Where there is a will, it names one or more executors, the people legally responsible for carrying out the deceased's wishes. To do so, the executor usually needs a Grant of Probate: the official document confirming their authority to deal with the estate.

Being an executor can feel daunting and carries personal legal responsibility. We act on your behalf, managing the entire process so nothing is missed.

Probate with a will FAQs

The executor (or executors) named in the will is responsible for applying for the Grant of Probate. If there are several executors, they can apply together or one can act with the others' agreement. We can act on the executor's behalf throughout.

An executor can choose to step back. They may formally renounce their role, or appoint a professional to act on their behalf. We'll explain the options and handle whichever route is chosen.

Not always. For smaller estates, or where assets were jointly held, a Grant may not be required. Our online assessment can help you check whether probate is likely to be needed.

Disputes can arise over a will's validity or how the estate is distributed. These need careful, specialist handling. We can guide you and bring in the right legal support where needed.
